Support starts with understanding your child
At Isabello’s, every child is welcomed as an individual. We take time to understand their strengths, interests, communication and development, working closely with parents and carers to agree support that helps them feel safe, included and able to participate fully in preschool life.
No formal diagnosis is required before support can begin.
How we identify when support may be needed
Our practitioners observe children through everyday play, routines, relationships and learning.
If we have concerns about a child’s progress or wellbeing, their Key Person and SENCo will speak with their parents or carers. Together, we consider the child’s communication, social and emotional development, physical development, learning, sensory needs, health and participation.
Planning support from the beginning
Where a child has identified or emerging additional needs, we work with their family before they start wherever possible.
We consider what already works well for the child, any medical, communication or sensory needs, and any professionals already involved. Where appropriate, we agree a personalised settling-in or support plan and liaise with other professionals.
A graduated approach to support
Assess
We gather information from families, observations and professionals involved with the child.
Plan
Together, we agree priorities, strategies, outcomes and any reasonable adjustments needed.
Do
The Key Person and preschool team put the agreed support into everyday practice.
Review
We review progress with families and adapt support as the child’s needs change.
Additional funding
Some children may be eligible for additional early years funding, including Disability Access Funding. Where relevant, Emma will explain the support available and the next steps.
